With the popularity of tattoos and body piercings growing - particularly among young people - the Oregon Health Licensing Agency (OHLA) wants Oregon consumers to be thoughtful before taking the tattoo or piercing plunge.

Piercing Thoughts, a public education campaign focused on tattoo and piercing safety and health, brings a fresh message that asks you to "Think Before You Ink" and "Be Aware...of Aftercare."

The Oregon Health Licensing Agency (OHLA) oversees regulation of body piercing and other health and related professions. To access OHLA's home page, go to Department at the top of the left navigation menu and click on Oregon Health Licensing Agency.

OHLA to Close on Scheduled Furlough Days

Starting Friday, October 16, 2009, OHLA will be closed on 10 "furlough" days through May 2011 as part of state government efforts to reduce costs. State employees will take unpaid days off on these scheduled days. Please plan any business with OHLA accordingly. We apologize for any inconvenience.
New Identification Requirements Revised

OHLA has revised new identification requirements in response to stakeholder feedback and upon further review by agency staff. Applicants for authorizations to practice should review the new requirements prior to sitting for an examination or applying.
